Another important award for a well-kept Rače Castle
In the centre of the Municipality of Rače-Fram stands a true pearl – one of the best-preserved lowland castles both in Slovenia and Europe. The castle was a venue for the first Slovenian historical novel about Count Hans Erasmus of Tattenbach.
On October 17 in the Planica Nordic Centre, the Tourist Association of Slovenia presented the awards for the best ranked cities in the project “My Country – Beautiful and Hospitable”. We are proud, since the town of Rače was ranked first in the category of urban centres. On Tuesday October 17, 2017, at the biggest tourist event in Slovenia – Days of Slovenian Tourism held in Kranjska Gora, the Tourist Association of Slovenia presented awards for the tidiest and the most hospitable places in the competition “My Country – Beautiful and Hospitable 2017”. This project enables our towns and villages to take part in the Entente Florale, an international horticultural competition for the most beautiful towns and villages.
Patricija Thaler, a long-standing member of the evaluation committee of the Municipality Rače-Fram, and the president of the ‘Klasje’ Association of Provincial Women in Rače: “This is an important award that puts our municipality on the map of tourist destinations. Rače Castle, this prominent building, was described in the first Slovenian historical novel by Josip Jurčič, whose story included real historic events about the Count of Tattenbach. I was the most pleased by the enthusiasm shown by the people who work for the tourist recognition of their town. They were proud of their work and had smiles on their faces, when they came on stage to receive their awards, plaquettes and a flag of the Tourist Association of Slovenia with the name of their town. It was interesting to exchange experiences with other receivers and tourist workers. We all work on this project to improve the quality of our lives and lives of our fellow citizens. We want everyone to remember our town for its clean environment and kind people. We all face the same difficulties, which are mostly linked to financial resources. There is still a lot to be done to make our town recognisable and to secure its place on tourist maps. It is encouraging and motivating to know that we are on the right path.
Tanja Kosi, the leader of the municipal project “My Country – Beautiful and Hospitable”: “Dear people of the Rače Castle story, the municipal award receivers in the project “My Country – Beautiful and Hospitable”, dear citizens who contribute your share to keep the Municipality of Rače-Fram tidy, I would like to thank everyone for all the teamwork done so far, which is expressed in the spirit of our town.
To receive an award means a lot to the Municipality of Rače-Fram. It validates the successful work we have done so far, while at the same time it motivates us to continue our efforts in the development of the tourist destination Rače-Fram.”
