Back in Roman times, a plumbing system was put in place to transport water from Fram to the Roman town of Poetovia (now known as Ptuj). The stone canal of this system extends over the lowland field on the route between Fram and Ptuj. It is an important part in the study of Roman history in this area. The spring of drinkable water was “the golden well of Poetovia”, and was built with quarry and stone, covered with stone plates and surrounded by burnt clay. The drain is 1.4m wide, 0.7m high, runs beneath the surface and it is not visible from above.
